Diana M. Uthenwoldt,
LISW-S, CGCS, CCTP

Diana’s experience includes therapy focusing on trauma recovery and addiction. At Whole House, she specializes in working with police forces and addressing the unique needs of police departments and officers across the Tristate area.
Diana was born a California girl but has settled nicely in the Midwest and we’re excited to have her as a part of our team. Starting as a social worker in case management, she moved up through the ranks quickly to therapist. She honed her craft focusing on trauma recovery and addiction as well as police culture. She enjoys working with individuals who have been dually diagnosed with mental health issues and addiction to find healthier coping skills and ways to manage stress and trauma triggers. Diana says, "My goal as a therapist is to help clients find ways to be the person they want to be and build the life they want. I enjoy helping people add tools to their tool box. Everybody is doing the best they can and with new tools, they find they can do better. I have a casual approach to allow clients to feel comfortable. Therapy can make a person feel vulnerable and knowing that, I work hard to build the trust it takes for a person to open up.” She is a graduate of University of Montana and completed her graduate work in Social Work at University of Cincinnati.
First Responder Work
Diana recognizes that police officers face factors in the workplace that are unparalleled among other professions. The shift work, the long hours and unpredictable schedules, the exposure to critical incidents, on the job injuries, and the frequent focus of public attention and criticism can lead to any number of medical conditions. High blood pressure, insomnia, heart disease, diabetes, PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relational distress—these are just a few of the things that affect officers. Trauma is real. The only way to manage it and the effects are to treat it. Diana utilizes Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapies to help those who have been trapped or held back by their past experiences find hope.
In her spare time away from the clinical office, Diana enjoys spending time with her partner Jerrod, her cats, Henry and Khan, reading, playing Sudoku, and watching Netflix. She balances that out with her recent love of training for and running half marathons and growing her race medal collection.
